Introduction

Tower of Fantasy as a game revolves around the usage) three weapons are available to you, but the game does not explain in detail what each part means outside of its classification of characters. In this guide, we'll give a general overview and explanation of the basic mechanics of the game and help with good general team building practices.

We sadly can't go into skills or other specific mechanics, or else the guide will be very long; however just a very in depth introduction to the thought process of how you should build a team.

Tsubasa

We will use Tsubasa as our example character to explain each stat.

General

For example, here, we will have the element which you assume. It displays what element type of attack they cast and the benefit of that element is.

Type refers to the weapon type.

Shatter

Shatter refers to how much damage you take away from enemy shields. The higher the shatter, the better the unit is at taking away the shield. The Game currently values a shatter of 4 as a B.

The reason to shatter an opponent's shield is because if they aren't shattered they will block 50% of the damage they receive.

Inside of PVP, having a shield means that you are immune to soft control statuses such as stun. You get reduced damage by 30% however, you enter a 3 second stunned state when your shield is removed.

Charge

This refers to how good the weapon is at charging up the weapon bar, which is used for type effects or discharge attacks when switching weapons.

In PVP, 22.5% of the amount you charge will be converted to shield, meaning high charge users can regenerate shield faster than those with low charge units.

While not a rule, those with higher charge values generally tend to be Main DPS units or sub-DPS units.

Category

The Game tries categorizing characters based on what users think they will use them as. It's generally correct, but it's not a perfect determiner. For example, Tsubasa can again be used as a main DPS, but she tends to find her stride as a sub-DPS support as much of her utility is in her buffs.

usage The most useful application of category type is to use different weapon resonance effects. Depending on how many of each weapon type you have in your team, you will apply the different buffs. An obvious situation would be if you're trying to maximize DPS, then you would try to get attack resonance as that would boost your damage overall. This can be somewhat abuse in that the Game does have some reasonably loose role categorization, so some supportive units can be in categories you don't expect.

Play around with your team building with resonance effect in mind to fully maximize what you're aiming for.

Roles and usage

You may pick up the language used in the previous section. Still, there are different roles that, while not canonically set in the game, are good categories so players can better understand basic team building.

The roles under which I'll be categorizing units are Shieldbreakers, Support / Utility / Sub - DPS, and Main DPS.

Main DPS

Main-DPS, as a general rule, are characters that you want to significantly take most of your on-field time whenever you're not looking to break shields. Most of them focus on maximizing their DPS with the utility of supporting the other unit types by their high charge rate.

SamirSamir CrowCrow TsubasaTsubasa

The characters above are prime examples of Main DPS within the game. Great damage and high charge rate. Tsubasa is the only special case here as she can also slot into the support sub-DPS category due to her kit allowing for her to be on the field for much less time.

Shieldbreakers

KINGKING MerylMeryl

Self-explanatory a lot of the time, they have a high shatter rating. They also have abilities that emphasize their ability to break the enemy shield. Some units, however, are just within shield breaker territory just by merit of stat, such as Huma though they're barely within this metric compared to other dedicated shield breakers.

Support, Healer, Utility, Sub-DPS

There are many categories in one here, but this is what is generally reserved for your final slot. Choose what you like here; if you prefer supporting utility or healing, choose the one that applies to the scenario.

Example team (For PvE)

Putting all these learned examples into practice, we can create a team focused on high DPS while still having comfortable healing and shield breaking. Here is an example team, though, of course, the teams you'll create will vary based on your characters.

Closing

Feel free to experiment; the guidelines themselves are not absolute, and some content needs experimentation outside the confines of what's recommended in this guide. This is especially relevant to the content that's not the general PvE you'll generally see, such as 8 man raids, content that emphasizes high damage, or even PvP, where the rules and strategies employed will be a lot different.
