Usage Tips & In-Depth Analysis:

Kuro is the first EX-tier Sniper to be added to Neural Cloud EN, and she earns her place in this tier due to the sheer outrageousness of her single-target DPS. Even in the CN Server, Kuro remains a chart-topping Hashrate-based DPS Sniper to this day, over a year after her release.

No special tricks or teams needed, simply slot her into a Hashrate-scaling team, take some Hashrate-buffing protocols and functions, and watch her shred bosses in a way no one else can.

How much crit and crit damage do I need? You can either build to ~60% Crit and put the rest into Crit Damage, or rely on functions to give you crits and dump everything into Crit Damage.

Why build her crit when her skill can't crit? In most stages, you will be able to collect functions that allow Kuro's attacks to crit. Her skill chunks for a ton even without critting, as long as you're scaling Hashrate properly (and a future unit can provide a buff to Kuro that lets her skill crit, which does terrible things to the enemies' HP bar).

Passive
Skill Level
Normal Attacks or [Danmaku] have a 60 % chance of creating 1 additional [Danmaku], with a maximum of 5 [Danmaku] being created from a single Normal Attack.
[Danmaku]: Follows targeting of Normal Attacks, dealing Operand Damage equal to 50 % Hashrate that cannot be dodged. This damage can Crit through certain methods and conditions such as functions.

Evaluation

S (Excellent)

Kuro's basic attacks have additional Hashrate scaling thanks to this passive (the expected value is around 230% Hashrate per attack from the ~2.3 procs per attack that are able to crit, making this a viable source of scaling bonus on-hit damage).
[Danmaku] can trigger even if the normal attack itself misses, making Kuro a soft counter to high evasion enemies.

Channel an attack, dealing Operand Damage equivalent to 40 % Hashrate every 0.2 second(s) for 3 seconds). If channeling fully finishes, deal additional Operand Damage equal to 160 % Hashrate to the target.

Evaluation

S (Excellent)

Kuro's skill has a massive scaling of up to 1520% Hashrate against a single target, higher than every other character in the game currently.
If used during her ultimate, another 1056% Hashrate worth of damage is added (from the 16 instances of damage dealt by this skill). Unfortunately the ultimate doesn't last long enough for two full channels of Kuro's skill, but it's going to hurt the enemies a lot regardless!

Throws a grenade towards the target area, dealing Operand Damage equal to 100 % Hashrate, creating a [Minefield] that persists for 5 second(s) in a seven-tile area.
[Minefield]: When an enemy in the area takes non-Derivative damage dealt by an ally unit, it takes additional [Derivative] Operand Damage equal to 30 % of Kuro's Hashrate.

Evaluation

S (Excellent)

An ultimate that makes enemies take flat added damage every time your team inflicts direct damage (i.e. non-Derivative) to enemies inside the minefield.
Earhart is one good candidate for proccing extra hits (due to her passive), as is Max (due to her skill if you want to proc a lot of hits in an AoE). But since Kuro herself can hit the enemy 15+ times if she uses her skill during this ultimate, you don't have to worry too much about teambuilding around this.

Function Interactions: (being tested)

[Danmaku] is not derivative damage and can stack some functions that proc on basic attack:

Danmaku will proc:

  • Frozen Shot (procs every Danmaku)
  • Frostbite Spillover
  • Immunity Reduction
  • Lethal Increment (stacks crit damage every Danmaku proc, subject to 0.33 second internal cooldown, up to 3 or 4 stacks for a full 5-danmaku proc)
  • All functions involving Bloodthirst Sigils (Danmaku will crit and consume a stack, Danmaku will consume the sigil before the basic attack if there are not enough stacks to cause both of them to crit)

Danmaku potentially procs:

  • Blade of Silence

Danmaku does not proc:

  • Most functions not listed above
  • Burst Shooting 2-set effect (this only causes the normal attack to crit, not Danmaku)
  • Twin-track Burst does not cause Danmaku to split, and can only proc Danmaku once (but it rolls the chance separately for each target, so the overall proc rate is higher)

Accuracy of the above is pending testing in the official Neural Cloud Discord, see the thread Kuro Technical Mechanics
